Our Curriculum

The curriculum at EISB has a Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) curriculum. The EISB curriculum in all subjects is provided to teachers in a detailed, week-by-week format. The structure that this affords ensures that all students are taught what they need to learn when they need to learn it. Since teachers receive the curriculum, textbooks, supplementary materials, and exams before in hand, this means that not only can the teachers focus on teaching itself, but it also means that the curriculum and exams do not change EISB when teachers leave, an important advantage for an international school.

Teaching Methodology

Teachers present one point at a time and then ask the class to demonstrate their understanding of the concept through the completion of a written exercise. Next, moving from teacher-led instruction, the class engages as a community of learners, checking each other’s work in small groups. One student in each group is designated as a subject perfect to coordinate the group. The subject perfectly oversees his/her own micro-community of learners, managing questions and offering further explanations (or looking to other group members to do so) when needed. Once the entire class has demonstrated mastery of the point, teacher-led instruction resumes and the learning cycle continues.

Monitoring and Support

Monitoring student learning is an essential part of the EISB. Student understanding and retention are assessed on a weekly basis. What is taught in one week is assessed in the next. Students take the multiple-choice, short answer, and essay tests, which help teachers and administrators pinpoint learning gaps as they form. Having identified learning gaps, all of the resources can be mobilized to give our students the support they need to fill these gaps and ensure that each and everyone builds a strong academic foundation. Students are given prompt support through student or teacher-led study groups or via peer tutoring as soon as additional help is needed.

At the Primary School level, teaching continues to be highly interactive and engaging. “Learning by doing” is the motto, and teaching is supported by attractive visuals, manipulative and creative educational activities. Learning is linked with concrete examples from surroundings, nature, school, home, etc.

The focus is to present new information in a logical and interesting manner and not merely on textbook coverage.

Kindergarten/Pre-Primary

As the Pre-Primary level is the foundation stage of the tiny tots, our main focus is to set their minds fear-free by providing a secure environment through the play-way method making the formal schooling interesting and entertaining with a perfect balance of Activity-based learning, inculcating within each child the essence and meaning of love.

The Kindergarten comprises of Nursery, L.K.G, U.K.G. and admits children Nursery aged 2 years 10 months, Jr. KG aged 3 years 10 months and Sr. KG aged 4 years 10 months and so on. The school timing for the Kindergarten section is from 8:15 am to 12:15 pm. The school follows a 5-day week schedule.

Kindergarten/Pre-primary

LKG introduces children to a new world of learning through activities and active exploration. We aim at engaging children through vivid storytelling, rhymes, music, art, and physical activities. A special audio-visual room is designed to aid the kindergarten classes.

In UKG more emphasis is given to promoting basic skills in reading and writing for a smooth transition to Std.I.

Our whole approach in Kindergarten is child-centered with broad monthly themes to develop fine and large motor activities, creativity, verbal and non-verbal skills

Primary (1st to 5th) & Middle (6th to 8th)

The Primary section comprises classes from Grade I to Grade V . The minimum age for entry into Class I is 5 years 10 months before 31st July 2013 to seek Admission and it increases by a year accordingly. The school timing for the Primary & Secondary section is from 8:15 am to 3:15 pm. The school follows a 5-day week schedule.

The Curriculum is based on teamwork where the teachers are the facilitators for group discussions, projects as well as hands-on activities & experimentation.

While many of our students join the school in Kindergarten or Grade 1 and spend their entire school career at the school, we accept students at any grade level. Whether a student spends fourteen years at EIS or just two or three, we strive to provide every student with an excellent, well-rounded education that prepares them to meet the demands of university.

Paradigm of Teaching ( Primary and Middle )

At the primary level, we strive and focus on Co-Curricular Activities apart from the academic course, to develop good communication skills with a perfect blend of discipline and inculcating, moral values as the basic component within each child for their scholastic development.
